Saturday Night Live UK's newest host should be a hit

Saturday Night Live UK continues to build momentum in its inaugural season, with the British edition of the iconic sketch franchise announcing that Jack Whitehall will host its April 11 episode alongside musical guest Jorja Smith. It will mark the fourth consecutive episode for the series to start its first season.

Whitehall will arrives at Saturday Night Live UK in London with one of the most established comedy resumes in the U.K. A stand-up comedian turned actor, he first gained prominence through panel shows such as Mock the Week and 8 Out of 10 Cats, before breaking out with his starring role in the Channel 4 sitcom Bad Education.

His career has since expanded internationally, with credits including Disney’s Jungle Cruise, Mother's Day, the anthology series The Afterparty, and his Peacock comedy The ‘Burbs, which co-stars legendary Saturday Night Live writer Paula Pell.

Whitehall is also no stranger to late-night-style appearances, having made multiple visits to U.S. talk shows such as The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Conan, and The Late Late Show with James Corden, where his quick-witted storytelling and stand-up made him a standout guest.

Notably, his booking represents a milestone for the new sketch series. Whitehall is set to become the first primarily stand-up comic to host SNL UK. That distinction could bode well, given how performers like John Mulaney, Bill Burr, and Dave Chappelle have historically thrived on the U.S. version of Saturday Night Live,

Joining Whitehall is Jorja Smith, one of the U.K.’s most acclaimed contemporary R&B voices. She first broke through with her 2018 debut album Lost & Found, earning critical praise and industry recognition, including a Brit Award for British Female Solo Artist.

Smith has released two singles so far in 2026, given fans an idea of what they may hear when she takes the stage. The first was "Don't Leave" a song originally recorded in 2015 and released in honor of the 10th anniversary of her debut single "Blue Lights."

She also dropped Price of It All for the miniseries Bait that hit Amazon Prime Video earlier this month. The series comes from creator and star Riz Ahmed, who will actually host Saturday Night Live UK the week prior to Smith's visit. The rock band Kasabian will be on hand to support Ahmed.

Saturday Night Live UK airs at 10:00 p.m. local time on Sky in the UK. It's available for American audiences the next day on Peacock, with sketches also added to the show's official YouTube channel.
