As November gets into the holiday programming for Thanksgiving, it means Saturday Night Live is looking ahead at December hosts and musical guests. So far, the first have been revealed for December 2025, but this does come with a disappointing (but expected) update for the rest of the month.
The announcement of the upcoming guests came at the end of Saturday Night Live on Saturday, Nov. 15. There is a lot to look forward to as we get closer to the end of the year.

Who will be the first guests of Saturday Night Live in December 2025?
On Saturday, Dec. 6, Melissa McCarthy will take on hosting duties on the late-night comedy series. She will be joined by Dijon as the musical guest.
As Deadline reminds us, McCarthy is part of the Five-Timers Club, a coveted title that she has earned in style. She initially hosted back in 2011 and then returned numerous times until 2017, when she was presented with the membership jacket by Steven Martin and Alec Baldwin. McCarthy has even earned an Emmy nomination each time she has hosted the series, winning in 2017.
Meanwhile, Dijon will make his debut appearance on the Saturday late-night series, promoting his second album “Baby.”

Saturday Night Live is taking a break from new episodes
Now for a little bit of bad news. SNL is taking a break from Saturday night episodes for the time being. While this is disappointing, it’s also expected, as the show goes into its Thanksgiving hiatus.
However, there is some good news in all of this. The date is set for the Saturday Night Live Thanksgiving special. It will air on Wednesday, Nov. 26, airing at the earlier-than-usual time of 9 p.m. ET/PT. We can expect plenty of Thanksgiving-themed sketches throughout the night, with the regular team from this season in attendance.

The series will return to its usual slot on Saturday, Dec. 6, and there will be a few episodes until the show goes on another break. Again, it’s an expected break, as the series takes time off over the Christmas and New Year celebrations, but there is going to be a Christmas-themed episode! That will air on Thursday, Dec. 18 starting at 9 p.m. ET/PT, and there will be an encore of the episode on Monday, Dec. 22 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
There’s no doubt that we look forward to these specials. They’re just a lot of fun to get into the mood for the holidays.
Saturday Night Live is available to stream on Peacock if you’ve missed episodes and want to catch up.
