As Saturday Night Live gets ready to go on its winter break, there are still a few episodes to get ready for. And we’re not just talking about the Thanksgiving and Christmas specials.
There are three live shows set to air in December 2025. We already knew that Melissa McCarthy and Dijon would be the first of December’s guests on the stage, marking Dijon’s debut as the musical guest, and now we know who will be around for the final two live shows of the year.

Josh O’Connor and Lily Allen take to the stage
On Saturday, Dec. 13, Josh O’Connor will take on the hosting duties. He comes off the back of Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, which comes to Netflix the day before on Friday, Dec. 12. This will allow for him to put together some skits with his new character, although there may be a focus on some previous roles to help avoid spoilers.
As for the musical guest, British pop star Lily Allen will get her chance to shine. She has just released her new album West End Girl, and she’s currently making headlines after her divorce from Stranger Things actor David Harbour.

Ariana Grande and Cher return to Saturday Night Live
On Saturday, Dec. 20, Ariana Grande will return as the host of the show. This will be her third stint on the series, and we’re hoping to see a “Domingo” performance in some sort of way to continue the trends that we’ve had from her previous appearance and with Sabrina Carpenter. Then there’s the Wicked takes for skits that we hope to see, especially considering Wicked: For Good will be out by then.
Cher is returning to the stage. And yes, this is a grand return! Cher last performed in 1987! What a comeback!
This could be a fun night, considering Grande did a wonderful impression of Cher back on That’s My Jam with Jimmy Fallon. Maybe we can see the two team up for a song on the night!
After the Dec. 20 show, Saturday Night Live will take a short break. There will be a Christmas special that airs on Thursday, Dec. 18 and then enjoys a rerun on Monday, Dec. 22, but other than that, we’ll need to wait until January for new episodes of the comedy late-night series. This break is completely normal to give everyone some downtime over the holiday season. After all, everyone deserves a break (although not everyone gets one) this time of year.
