Can you believe we’ve reached the last Saturday Night Live episode of 2025? We’ve had a wonderful run, and just recently we havdthe Christmas special. Now it’s time for a major episode with two huge stars taking over at 30 Rock.
Saturday Night Live season 51 episode 9 marks the end of 2025 episodes. This is perfectly normal, as the show goes on a break for the holiday season. We’ll get new episodes in January, although NBC is still to confirm when the show is back in business.
For now, let’s dive into what to expect during the last episode. It’s also a huge one for the cast, as this is the last episode for Bowen Yang, according to Deadline.

The fall finale will air tonight, Saturday, Dec. 20. Tune in at the usual time of 11:30 p.m. ET/8:30 p.m. PT on NBC.
You can watch NBC in all the usual ways right now, whether you have cable or you’ve cut the cord. Fubo TV remains to be dark for NBCUniversal channels, so you’ll want to get on to both of the companies to push them to make a deal. At least you can watch the episode on YouTube TV still!
As usual, you’ll be able to stream the episode the following day on Peacock. SNL will drop around 6 a.m. ET/3 a.m. PT on Sunday, Dec. 21.
Who is the guest host for SNL tonight?
Ariana Grande is returning to host the episode, and this is huge considering she’s just had Wicked: For Good come out. This is Grande’s third time hosting SNL, and her fifth appearance on the show as a whole. Most recently, she hosted in October 2024, but her first hosting gig was back in 2016, when she hosted and performed as the musical guest.
Her first ever appearance was back in 2014, when she was the musical guest for an episode. She would then get that honor once more in 2024.
Who is the musical guest on Saturday Night Live on Dec. 20?
As for musical guests, Grande will not pull double duty during this episode. Instead, the iconic Cher will take to the stage. With 27 studio albums under her belt, this is an honor for SNL to get her.
She has appeared as a musical guest before, way back in 1987. With some hope, we’ll see Cher and Grande team up for a song. After all, Grande has done some wonderful impressions of Cher over the years.
