Saturday Night Live is going big to start of season 52. The NBC sketch comedy show announced the hosts and musical guests for the first four episodes, and fans will not be disappointed with the choices.
The season premiere on September 26 will welcome the reigning King of New York to Studio 8H. Fresh off winning the NBA championship, New York Knicks star Jalen Brunson makes his Saturday Night Live debut. He'll be supported by musical guest Katseye.
Brunson should bring a lot of energy with him. Expect the studio audience, and the cast, to show him a lot of love after helping to deliver a championship to New York City.
On October 3, actress Dakota Johnson returns to host for a third time. Turnstile will perform as the musical guest, marking the band's first time on Saturday Night Live.
Johnson will be at SNL the same night her new film Verity premieres. The psychological erotic thriller also stars Anne Hathaway, making her an early contender for a suprise cameo.
October 7 sees Shane Gillis back at Saturday Night Live. The show continues to make up for prematurely firing the comedian by giving him the stage for a third time. Rosalía will be the musical guest.
Gillis continues to do just fine without Saturday Night Live, further proving that being fired may have been the best thing for his career. His Netflix series Tires premiered its third season this summer, and a fourth has already been confirmed.
For the Halloween episode on October 31, Saturday Night Live is turning things over to the horror genre's breakout star, Inde Navarrette. The Obsession star has amassed an impressive following thanks to her Oscar-worthy performance. Gracie Abrams will also be on hand as the night's musical guest.
It's not out of the question to expect an Obsession parody when Navarette arrives at Saturday Night Live. The actress is also set to star in the upcoming X-Men reboot from Marvel, which should also get a shout-out during her episode.
Abrams also stands out as the musical guest most likely to find her way into a sketch. She's already making her way into acting with a lead role in the upcoming A24 film Please directed by Halina Reijn.
Saturday Night Live season 52 premieres on September 26. No new cast additions have been announced, but expect that to change in the coming days.
