Quinta Brunson is preparing to host Saturday Night Live for the second time. The Abbott Elementary creator plans to enter Studio 8H with a different strategy than her last time around.

Brunson made her Saturday Night Live debut on April 1, 2023. She quickly demonstrated her improv comedy chops and proved she was more than up to the task of hosting SNL.

So it's not necessarily a surprise that SNL would want Brunson back for season 50. And with that experience under her belt, Brunson is bringing a new approach to hosting SNL when she arrives on May 3.

"This time, I feel a little more comfortable," Brunson said on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. She admitted the first time, she wanted SNL's writers and cast to take the reigns and do their thing. But now that she's a SNL vet, Brunson is ready for a new approach.

"Now I feel like I have a better understanding of the engine, and my goal is always to become part of the machine," she said. "So any ideas I have will be just things I know will already work on that kind of show."

Few SNL hosts can show up with their own sketches in mind. It's what makes Brunson's sketch comedy background so valuable, as well as her experience writing, producing, and performing her own material.

Brunson told Jimmy Kimmel she has no fear when it comes to performing on Saturday Night Live. Her improv background prepared her well for taking big swings in front of a live audience.

That was easy to see a couple of years ago when Brunson made her SNL debut an fit in seamlessly with the cast. Next week should be no different as the actress once again shows why she's one of the best hosts SNL has seen in years.
