Easily the most successful sketch comedy show in television history, Saturday Night Live has been an institution for decades. As a result, it is considered to be a true honor when a celebrity is tapped to host the legendary show. Since most people assume that celebrities must be excited to host SNL, it can be easy for observers to forget that appearing on the show is a high-pressure scenario with a lot of potential downsides.
Of course, the fact that SNL airs live is one of the most obvious reasons why hosting the show is such a high-pressure situation. After all, in that kind of environment, anything can go wrong. As serious as that potential stumbling block is, the biggest struggle that SNL hosts have to grapple with is being judged by the show's many viewers. Unfortunately for Sabrina Carpenter, it turns out that her recent SNL episode has received disappointing reviews from viewers.

Sabrina Carpenter's SNL episode has received very disappointing IMDb reviews
After each Saturday Night Live episode airs, it doesn't take long for it to be reviewed by writers online. As interesting as it is to learn that reviewers loved Nick Jonas' SNL episode, it is the viewers whose opinions matter more. After Sabrina Carpenter's SNL episode recently aired, it seems like many people have been more interested in her swearing on the show than in how her appearance was reviewed by fans.
As of the time of this writing, the sad truth is that Saturday Night Live season 51 episode 3, which featured Carpenter as the host and musical guest, is getting underwhelming reviews. On IMDb, the episode has a score of only 6/10, which is a passing grade, but only barely. As underwhelming as that grade would be for Carpenter and SNL's team, the reality of the reviews looks more disappointing upon further examination.
On IMDb, each episode's score is dictated by users scoring it on a scale of 1 to 10. Fortunately, the website is transparent about the user reviews that formulate the overall score since IMDb lists the percentage of users who've given the episode each number on the scale.
Unfortunately for Carpenter's episode of SNL, it turns out that almost 11% of IMDb's user reviews gave it only 1/10. Needless to say, that is a severely disappointing review for any episode to get from users. On top of that, an additional 25% of user reviewers on IMDb scored Carpenter's SNL episode as between a 2 and 5 on a scale of 1 to 10.
While some of those scores were likely dictated by people who gave a low score for reasons that go beyond the episode, there is no doubt that getting that many negative reviews is disappointing. Still, it only seems right to point out that there would have been many factors that were outside of Carpenter's control that played a role in her episode's disappointing reviews.
