Get ready for a lot more Bill Maher, as HBO has renewed his series Real Time. This isn’t just for one season either!

It’s the latest sign that late night TV isn’t going anywhere. While there are certainly some changes to the way the shows will work, such as Jimmy Kimmel Live reducing its number of musical guests, there is still an interest in this type of talk show. The benefit of the streamers is that the shows can be watched whenever people want!

Real Time with Bill Maher renewed for two more seasons

HBO clearly knows that it has a great thing with Real Time with Bill Maher. The talk show has been renewed for two more seasons, taking it through to season 26, which will air in 2028.

The talk show host has been with HBO since his first special on the premium cable network back in 1989. He has since done 13 solo specials as well as his talk show, with his most recent one, Bill Maher: Is Anyone Else Seeing This? Being nominated for a Golden Globe.

It’s no surprise that Real Time has succeeded, though, as it continually offers something different. Yes, there is the opening monologue that all these shows offer, but Maher offers roundtable discussions as well as one-on-one interviews, and the “New Rules” segment is always something to look forward to.

It’s rare that a show gets a multi-season renewal, but HBO likes to reward it’s performing shows, and so, that’s what Real Time gets.

Real Time season 24 lands a premiere date

On top of this, HBO has announced when the talk show will return. Real Time with Bill Maher season 24 will premiere on Friday, Jan. 23. It will air on the premium cable channel at 10 p.m. ET/PT, and then it will be available to stream on HBO Max, so you really can watch it whenever you want.

Maher recently spoke out against the decision to suspend Jimmy Kimmel back in September, although he followed up with comments about a snub when Kimmel thanked various people for support. The trailer suggests that there will be some sort of conversation about the events that happened, as Maher shares that he’s “not intimidated by the FCC,” but then goes on to give President Donald Trump a compliment.

With Real Time back, it feels like late night TV is getting back in order a little. Now we just need Last Week Tonight back as well, and we have a full house once more.

Real Time with Bill Maher season 24 premieres on Friday, Jan. 23 at 10/9c on HBO.
