When will Late Night with Seth Meyers return to NBC?
You probably noticed, but Late Night with Seth Meyers is nowhere to be found this week. The talk show has no new episodes the week of August 26, and has resorted to airing reruns of episodes from earlier in the year.
This is, of course, standard within the talk show sphere. A host can't be expected to host brand new episodes every single week. The question that invariably comes up when rerurns take over the usual time slot, though, is when will the host return? When will new episodes of Late Night with Seth Meyers air?
Late Night with Seth Meyers will return September 3
Fortunately, fans won't have to wait long. NBC has confirmed that Seth Meyers will be back with new episodes the week of September 3. There was not a specific reason given for the week long hiatus, but a recent announcement involving Meyers probably has something to do with it.
The former Saturday Night Live writer will be hosting a Closer Look Primetime special on September 11. The special will be airing the day after the presidential debate, and will focus on the fallout of said debate. Meyers is likely focusing his efforts on putting the special together, which will air at 10 pm on NBC.
Meyers is focusing on his upcoming NBC special
"From Studio 8G in Rockefeller Center," the press release for the special read. "Meyers will deliver an extended edition of A Closer Look, a tightly written comedic analysis of breaking national news and political developments."
The special will be an expansion of the segment of the same name, which has become a staple of Late Night with Seth Meyers. So basically, fans will be getting an extended episode of their favorite talk show on September 11. Not a bad compensation prize for having to sit through a week of old reruns.
