When does Jimmy Kimmel return to host Jimmy Kimmel Live?
Jimmy Kimmel has spent the last two decades on television. That being said, the last few years have been characterized by a slightly different schedule. The comedian has decided to talk summers off, which means Jimmy Kimmel Live! resorts to a revolving roster of guest hosts.
The results are consistently exciting, as evidenced by the fact that people like Kathryn Hahn and Martin Short (not to mention Short's alter ago, Jiminy Glick), have held down the desk for Kimmel. That being said, it's still Kimmel's show, and fans may be wondering when he's coming back.
Jimmy Kimmel will return in September 2024
Well, the comedian actually told us when he would be returning before he left. In his last appearance before handing the reins off to Short, Kimmel assured fans that he would be back in the fall. To be more specific, he would be back in time for Labor Day, which falls on September 2.
This is pretty standard as far as Jimmy Kimmel's summer schedule goes. The comedian sparked concern from fans when he first went on summer vacation in 2020, but he assured everybody that he simply wanted to spend more time with his family:
"There’s nothing wrong, I’m healthy, my family’s healthy, I just need a couple of months off."
Kimmel currently hosts Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?
Fortunately, those wanting more Kimmel will get a chance to see him well before September. The comedian is currently serving as the host of the rebooted game show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? He talked about the decision to do so, and how it differs from Jimmy Kimmel Live, during a recent interview with Variety.
“I really wanted to do it the proper way in front of people because you like to hear people laugh at your jokes," the comedian stated. "Also, the drama that goes along with a couple of hundred people watching the action happen is an important part of the show."
The bottom line is, there will be plenty of Kimmel content for the rest of the year!
