Saturday Night Live is an institution. Regardless of how the show has struggled in recent years, SNL represents a breakthrough moment in the careers of hundreds of entertainers. If you are big enough to host, or even perform, then you've officially made it. This is the line of thinking that's been in place since 1975.

We recently discussed a celebrity who has gone out of his way to avoid hosting SNL, but we're going to flip this premise and delve into someone who has wanted to host their entire life! We're referring to reality TV star and entrepreneur Bethenny Frankel.

Frankel claimed that hosting SNL is her "dream"

Frankel, who rose to fame as a core member of the show The Real Housewives of New York, has been a pop culture force since 2008. Still, she told Collider wants to test out her comedic skills against the current cast of the sketch show:

"There's nothing in the world I would rather do than be on Saturday Night Live. That's the dream."

Frankel may be best known for playing herself, but she actually attempted to start up an acting career when she was younger. She talked about her desire to immerse herself in roles, and to play situations outside of her own experience, during an interview with A&E.

"In my 20s I briefly attempted acting and was shocked to be asked to immerse myself in such a significant role," the reality star explained. "My greatest takeaway is to recognize the thankless hard work that the cast and crew input every day. It exceeded my wildest imagination and I watch tv and movies differently now."

Frankel's early acting credits include Soiree Sans Hors D'oeuvres (1993) and Hollywood Hills 90028 (1994). She was even cast in a lead role in the latter. Now that she's established her brand, she's back to doing what she always wanted to: perform. She had a one-episode cameo in the 2013 sitcom The Neighbors, and she's slated to star in the upcoming Lifetime film Danger In the Dorm.

Maybe SNL is still in the cards at some point...
