Stephen Colbert is not a Donald Trump fan. Yes, that's putting it mildly. The comedian has spent the duration of his time on The Late Show lampooning Trump and pushing back against his ideologies. Colbert may actually be the host who has leaned the furthest into Trump material.

It's not exactly news that Colbert made fun of Trump. It is, however, when one considers how blunt he was in his recent attack. The Late Show host went as far as to declare the ex-President "demented" after a confusing speech at a weekend rally.

Colbert was baffled by Donald Trump's word choice

Colbert rolled a clip in which Donald Trump used the word "acclamented." He not only made up a word but he proceeded to ask the audience if they knew what it means. This is where the talk show host stepped in with his barbs.

No, I don’t know what that means," Colbert responded. "’Cause that’s not a word!" The rest of the clip sees Trump attempt to define the word as "getting used to a society that really goes too far," but the host was not buying it. He then delivered the line:

"I think that’s when you get acclimated to Trump being demented. It’s acclamented."

The host noted that Trump is down in the polls

The frustration Colbert feels toward Trump manifested in his giddiness over the recent poll stats. The Late Show host noted that Democratic nominee Kamala Harris is up in the polls. He also threw a jab at Trump voters, many of whom are men.

"Trump is ahead among men, leading some to call this the boys versus girls election," he explained. "And remember, many Trump voters are not vaccinated against cooties." Colbert clearly feels as though the Trump campaign is on its last legs, and letting it fly in terms of the jokes he has left.

It's difficult to imagine what a version of Colbert's Late Show would look like without a chunk of time dedicated to Donald Trump, but the comedian seems more than ready to turn that corner and find out with us.
