In a rare moment on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, host Stephen Colbert commented on a the job doen by a fellow late-night TV comedian. Colbert's monologue took a closer look at President Joe Biden and Meyers' ice cream trip that turned into a Q&A with reporters.

Monday night's episode of Late Night with Seth Meyers celebrated the show's 10th anniversary. It did so by inviting back the same guests from the premiere episode: Amy Poehler and Joe Biden.

President Biden sat down with Meyers for an extended interview. The pair covered the war in Ukraine, Biden's age, and the 2024 election.

But their trip for some ice cream caught more attention. A reporter asked Biden about a potential ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. The president was forced to cut short his first lick of ice cream and comment on the very serious situation.

Colbert's monologue on Tuesday reacted to it all. First, Colbert joking acted hurt that Biden chose Late Night over The Late Show. The comedian even went so far as to call Meyers his "former friend."

Then, Colbert dove into the ice cream scene. "That's a very statesman like response, and a reason to kindle hope" Colbert said about Biden's ceasefire answer. "If he hadn't said it directly into a scoop of mint chip," he added. The host then mimed licking an ice cream while giving an impassioned speech about the war.

But Colbert admitted that what he loved most about the scene was how awkward it was for Seth Meyers. The video showed the late-night TV host standing off to the side, holding his ice cream cone and listening to President Biden talk about war.

Colbert teased that you never want reporters around to ask serious questions while filming a goofy segment. It's a lesson Meyers had to learn the hard way. And while Meyers didn't address it on Tuesday night's episode, the awkward moment will likely get his spin when the footage eventually airs on Late Night.
