Colin Jost and Michael Che have become institutions on Saturday Night Live. The duo have held down the Weekend Update desk since 2014, and their onscreen rapport, coupled with their real life friendship, makes them a consistent highlight of the show (even when everything else is failing).

Jost and Che are deciding to take their comedic stylings from the Weekend Update desk to the stage. They will be hosting a comedy special titled New York After Hours on Peacock. The special will be streamed live on the platform, and see the duo apply their signature wit while paling around with other notable comedians and friends.

It will be Peacock's first ever live stream comedy special

This is actually a pretty big step for Peacock. New York After Hours will mark the first time that the platform has aired a comedy special live, and the format of the show makes it distinct from the more standard Netflix model.

The element of surprise will play a pretty big role in New York After Hours. Colin Jost and Michael Che are obviously the draw here, but the live component allows the duo to bring in people that fans didn't expect. The guest list is being kept a secret until the special airs on Thursday, September 12.

What we do know, however, is that New York After Hours will be 60 minutes long. It will also feature the Grammy nominated musical outfit, 1500 or Nothin’, playing in between comedy sets. Michael Che is no stranger to the stand up stage, have put out his last special, Shame the Devil, in 2021.

Colin Jost, on the other hand, has never put out a special, so it'll be interesting to see how he fares in this setting. Jost and Che will both serve as executive producers on New York After Hours, along with Emily Hanson, Jeff Grosvenor, and Rachael Edwards.
