Victoria Jackson has spent her career making people laugh, but her latest announcement elicited a very different kind of emotion. The former Saturday Night Live star took to social media on August 14 to confirm that she is suffering from breast cancer, and her condition is terminal.

Jackson's Instagram caption was predictably funny, despite the graveness of its contents. "Cancer Update," she wrote. "I have 34.8 months to live if I don’t get hit by a meteor, shot by a MAGA hater, get Covid again or WWIII breaks out."

Jackson has been given 3 years to live

The comedian also looked back on her career and life as a whole, and assured fans that she was at peace with what she'd been told. "I've had a fantastic life," she stated. The biggest points of focus in her life, at the moment, are her family:

"I’d like to see my grandson born — his name is Jimmy — in October, and get to know him a little. And I would like to see my daughter Aubrey have a baby."

Jackson was caught between generations. She was not part of the Saturday Night Live's iconic 1970s lineup, nor was she part of the mid-90s lineup that's gained esteem in retrospect. She was instead part of the lineups in between 1986 and 1992.

Jackson was a Weekend Update favorite

She's probably best known for her celebrity impressions on the show. During her SNL stint, Victoria Jackson donned the voices and likenesses of Roseann Barr, Zsa Zsa Gabor, and Sally Struthers. She was also a staple of the Weekend Update segment, where she would derail news stories by going on random tangents and resorting to slapstick comedy.

Outside of Saturday Night Live, Jackson is best known for her supporting roles in films like Baby Boom (1987) and Family Business (1989) opposite Diane Keaton and Sean Connery, respectively, as well as one-off appearances on hit shows like The X-Files and Sabrina the Teenage Witch. Her most recent credit was in the holiday comedy Jingle Smells (2023).
