The comedian wasn't sure what to do for a second.

Seth Meyers has a pretty chill demeanor on Late Night. Part of his appeal is that he provides a more conversational feel than his peers, who can often come off a bit too rigid or rehearsed. Meyers never seems too flummoxed by what's happening on his set, which is why his recent interview with actor James McAvoy was so funny.

Meyers had James McAvoy on to promote the new horror film Speak No Evil, and the conversation was going predictably well. In the middle of it, though, McAvoy interrupted the Late Night host and stood up mid-conversation. "I’m going to need to — I’m so sorry — I’m going to need to stand up," McAvoy announced.

James McAvoy stood up due to a leg cramp

Meyers was visibly confused by this, and proceeded to ask his guest what was going on. "Why are you standing up?" he asked while leaning back in his chair. Fortunately, for everybody involved, the reason was harmless: a cramp. The actor got a cramp in his leg mid-interview and had to stand up to exercise it.

McAvoy jokingly assured the host that he wasn't going to "fart" or anything, and Meyers got back on track by riffing on McAvoy's comment. "Wow," he stated. "I would’ve been so happy if the reason you stood up was to fart."

Once the situation settled down, Meyers made another joke about McAvoy wanting to show up off his wardrobe to the Late Night audience:

"I feel like somebody gave you these really nice clothes and were like, 'If somewhere, halfway through, if you could fake a cramp just so we can see how the outfit looks.'"

The actor took it in stride (once the cramp subsided, of course) and the two men proceeded to have their conversation. It was a brief moment of panic, but it's admittedly amusing to see a talk show host get thrown off their game in the middle of an episode.
