Seth Meyers dubs JD Vance 'Ted Cruz 2.0' in hilarious Late Night takedown
Seth Meyers doesn't have the political reputation that some of his late night peers do. Jimmy Kimmel and Stephen Colbert have really carried the mantle when it comes to tearing into political events, but that doesn't mean Meyers is exempt from throwing out digs of his own.
The Late Night host proved it on September 19. Meyers examined at Donald Trump's Vice President running mate, JD Vance, during his Closer Look segment. The results were not complimentary, but they were hilarious. Meyers got some pretty devastating jokes off on Vance, who is becoming a big target for late night on a weekly basis.
Meyers compared JD Vance to Ted Cruz
For starters, Seth Meyers submitted JD Vance as a candidate for most off-putting public figure of all time. He likened Vance to another reviled Republican politician, Ted Cruz, and came to the conclusion that Vance is even worse:
"I didn’t think anyone could ever out-Cruz Ted Cruz, but this son of a b**ch did it. He’s Ted Cruz 2.0 – less nasal, more eyeliner."
Meyers also took Trump's running mate to task for spreading lies about the immigrants in Springfield, Ohio. The politician claimed that Haitian immigrants have been eating pets in the area, but there has been nothing to back up his claims.
Meyers also criticized Vance's false claims
"They factchecked your pet-eating lies," a particularly irate Meyers explained. "You don’t get to just lie and then tell everyone else it’s their job to factcheck your BS." The Late Night host then used Vance's own logic against him.
He noted that the rumors about JD Vance using a couch for sexual purposes should be taken as factual even though its also unfounded. "You’re still going to call them illegal aliens," Meyers noted. "Well then, I’m still going to call you a couch f**ker."
When a late night presence as affable as Seth Meyers is being this blunt, it's not looking good.
