Saturday Night Live star Colin Jost will host new Pop Culture Jeopardy! show
Colin Jost is a busy man. He's been one of the head writers on Saturday Night Live for years, and he recently served as the on-site anchor for NBC's surfing coverage during the Olympics. Now, Jost is packing up his suit and microphone and moving onto game shows.
Jost has been tapped as the host of Pop Culture Jeopardy! The reboot of the classic game show is headed into production this month, with the anticipation that it'll be ready for release within the year. The show will be released through Amazon Prime, and Jost has made it clear that he's excited.
Colin Jost confirmed the news in clasic Jeopardy! fashion
His statement was brief as it was appropriate:
"What is: I'm excited."
Jost may have gone for the less is more approach when it came to announcing his new hosting gig, but the President of Game Shows at Sony Pictures Television, Suzanne Prete, was a bit more detailed in her statement. She praised Jost's light approach to hosting, and felt like his persona aligned with the topics that contestants will be discussing.
The comedian was previously a clue on Jeopardy!
"[Colin's] wry affability and pop culture fluency make him uniquely qualified as the perfect host for this new iteration of the beloved franchise," Prete noted. "He’s smart and quick, like our contestants, and we know he’ll be able to keep up with them while making this new series his own." The President also asserted that she "could not be happier" that Jost agreed to host.
Jost has a past, albeit, a brief one, with Jeopardy! He was actually listed as a clue during a 2021 episode, which he gushed about during a Late Night with Seth Meyers appearance. "I found out it happened because my mom sent me the clip." The contestant guessed Conan O'Brien instead of Jost, however, and Jost joked that the veteran comedian should consider it an insult.
