Platonic didn't set the world on fire with its first season, but the Apple TV series was a charming star vehicle for those who got around to seeing it. Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne continued to sharpen their chemistry after starring in the Neighbors films, and the premise, about two friends who reconnect at a difficult point in both of their lives, was refreshing.

Platonic has been renewed for a second season, and so far it has absolutely loaded up on guest star talent. Deadline reports that the show is effectively becoming a Saturday Night Live reunion in 2025, as former SNL cast members Aidy Bryant, Beck Bennett and Kyle Mooney have all been added to the cast.

The specifics of Bryant, Bennett and Mooney's characters are being kept under wraps, but all three have been tapped for recurring roles, which means they will be present throughout most of season 2. It's an exciting prospect, given the chemistry that all three actors showed during their shared time on SNL.

Aidy Bryant joined SNL in 2012, while Bennett and Mooney joined a year later. Bennett left the show after eight seasons in 2021, while Bryant and Mooney left a year later. All three actors are close, with Bennett and Mooney having attended the same college and working together in the sketch group Good Neighbor prior to joining SNL.

Bennett talked about his chemistry with Mooney during a 2021 interview with TIME Magazine. He noted that the two have developed a comedic shorthand, and are able to get into a groove:

" From the moment we left our childhood homes, Kyle and I have been doing sketch comedy together... We always wrote together and had fun performing."

Bryant, meanwhile, has found solo success since leaving SNL. She served as a writer, executive producer and star of the Netflix series Shrill, which ran from 2019 to 2021. She was nominated for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her lead performance. Bryant most recently appeared in the surreal TV series Fantasmas.
