Jimmy Kimmel halts Oscars to roast Donald Trump over Oscars tweet

Jimmy Kimmel is never one to back down from a fight with former president Donald Trump and the Oscars host most certainly got the last laugh in the pair's latest battle.

On March 10, Kimmel returned to host the Oscars for the fourth time at ABC. While there were some questionable bits during the span of the night, overall Kimmel's latest hosting stint was met with a generally positive reception from most viewers at home. However, there was one particular viewer who was not a fan of Kimmel's Oscar hosting stint.

"Has there EVER been a WORSE HOST than Jimmy Kimmel at The Oscars," Trump asked his followers on Truth Social. "His opening was that of a less than average person trying too hard to be something which he is not, and never can be. Get rid of Kimmel and perhaps replace him with another washed up, but cheap, ABC 'talent,' George Slopanopoulos. He would make everybody on stage look bigger, stronger, and more glamorous. Also a really bad politically correct show tonight, and for years - Disjointed, boring, and very unfair. Why don’t they just give the Oscars to those that deserve them. Maybe that way their audience and TV ratings will come back from the depths. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!"

Jimmy Kimmel fires back at Donald Trump over Oscar tweet

As the 96th Annual Academy Awards came to a close, there was a bit of time to kill before the Oscar for Best Picture was given out and Kimmel used that time to address Trump's critiques. Despite orders not to read the tweet, Kimmel shared Trump's thoughts anyway.

After reading Trump's review out loud for the guests in attendance and the millions watching at home, Kimmel asked the audience if they could guess which former president just posted the not-so-complimentary review which was met with roaring laughter from Hollywood's A-list attendees.

“Blah, blah, blah…Okay, now, see if you can guess which former president just posted that on [Truth Social]. Anyone? No?," Kimmel laughed before deciding to hit back by getting the last laugh as he thanked the former president for watching the Oscars, despite it being past his "jail time."

"Well, thank you, President Trump," Kimmel joked. "Thank you for watching, I’m surprised you’re still up, isn’t it past your jail time?” 

The moment marked one of the few political moments from the Oscars telecast, with the night's political remarks otherwise focusing on the ongoing global conflict in Ukraine and between Israel and Hamas.
