Jimmy Kimmel's chat with Mike Tyson was more awkward than we expected

The boxer couldn't seem to give Kimmel a normal answer.

Mike Tyson can be an unpredictable guy. He's one of the controversial and aggressive fighters of all time, which is saying a lot. Tyson has mellowed out as he's gotten older, but his propensity for doing and saying odd things has mostly remained intact.

Don't believe us? Watch Tyson's recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! The boxer went on to promote his upcoming bout with YouTuber Jake Paul, and he could not seem to get into a groove with Kimmel to save his life. It felt like every other question was met with a bizarre non-answer. Especially when it came to his drug habits.

Mike Tyson hinted that he might be high in the ring

Kimmel asked Mike Tyson about his training regiment, and sounded more than a bit concerned when the latter broke it down. Tyson claimed that he doesn't start training until 11 am, and also takes a one hour break to get a massage. "Oh no," Kimmel said.

The host then asked if Tyson would be smoking any marijuana leading up to the fight, since the boxer has his own strain. "Oh, I'm going to be so high off life," Tyson responded. Kimmel tried to ask again to get a straight answer, and kind of got one? "That's a possibility too, yes," the boxer quipped.

All this came after Tyson urged Kimmel to bet on him to win the fight. After hearing what Tyson is doing to prepare for his fight against a much younger opponent, though, the host was less than enthused:

"See, now my bet's getting lower as we talk."

Mike Tyson tried to recover and assure the host that he's going to beat Jake Paul in the ring. "Very badly," he added, to the applause of the audience. It's possible that Tyson was joking when it came to him being stoned in the ring.

That said, MMA Junkies pointed out that marijuana is on the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation’s list of banned substances, which is where the boxing match is set to take place on November 15.

If Tyson decides to engage the way he alluded to with Kimmel, then he could very well have to forfeit the match. Talk about an awkward exchange (and a bad bet).
