Jerry Seinfeld has developed a bit of a reputation as a curmugeon in recent years. He's been critical of the current state of comedy and Hollywood during the press tour for his new film, Unfrosted. One thing Seinfeld has maintained, however, is a sense of humor about himself. He made a cameo on the May 4 episode of Saturday Night Live to poke fun at his own busy schedule.

The comedian popped up during the Weekend Update segment. Colin Jost didn't even introduce him by his name, but rather as "a man who did too much press." Seinfeld then slides onscreen looking out of breath and disheveled. He immediately scored a laugh by asking Jost if he was on a podcast. He then launches into a tirade about the dangers of doing too much press.

He also tries to offer a few pointers, so that the viewer at home can avoid making the same "mistakes" he has. "You don’t know until someone who cares about you shows you a video package and you see yourself with people with these names like Hoda, Mo Rocca, Chanel, Vlad," he noted.

The real highlight of the bit, however, came when Seinfeld compared himself to Ryan Gosling. The Canadian actor has been everything over the last 18 months, thanks to the successful campaigns for both Barbie and The Fall Guy. Gosling even hosted SNL a few weeks prior to promote the latter film.

“I know I can’t undo all the press I’ve done but I want to help other people," Seinfeld claimed. "If you’re struggling with press, you’re not alone. I’m talking to you, Ryan Gosling." It got even better when the comedian claimed to be just as charming and appealing as Gosling when he started his press tour.

"When I started doing press for Unfrosted, I was like you," he added. "Funny, good looking. Now look at me. You think this is how I wanted to spend my 26th birthday? But you can get clean." The icing on top of the bit was Seinfeld's rant getting interrupted by a phone call. It was yet another promo op, and the comedian agrees to do an interview in Spanish (he even asks what dialect he should use).

Seinfeld appeared during the closing credits of the show, but his words of advise were definitely a highlight of the episode.
