Is The Late Show with Stephen Colbert new tonight, December 26?

Christmas has come and gone, but what about The Late Show with Stephen Colbert? Here's what late-night TV fans should expect to see tonight on CBS.

Unsurprisingly, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert took off the Christmas holiday on Monday night. However, Stephen Colbert made sure to get everyone in the spirit with some holiday monologue jokes and bits ahead of his break.

And that break will continue on Tuesday night. There will not be a new episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert tonight.

Instead, CBS will reair the December 7, 2022 episode. Tune in to see the unofficial queen of Christmas, Mariah Carey chat with Colbert. Actor Kumail Nanjiani was also on the show.

Unfortunately, there aren't any real alternatives in late-night TV with The Late Show taking the night off. Colbert's fellow hosts and their respective staffs also have an extended holiday.

That means no Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Late Night with Seth Meyers, or The Daily Show. Each will be airing reruns from recent weeks, with others going as far back as October to pick a repeat.

So when will The Late Show with Stephen Colbert return? It won't be anytime soon, which shouldn't surprise longtime viewers. The show will be off the rest of the week and will also extend its hiatus into the new year. There are no new episode scheduled through January 5, 2024.

Hopefully, that time off gives Colbert and company the rest they need to start the new year off right. With what's ahead in 2024, late-night TV will need it's top show in top form.
