Two weeks into the new year, and Saturday Night Live fans are still patiently waiting for a new episode. So what should SNL audiences expect to see tonight on NBC?

Saturday Night Live season 49 went on hiatus following the December 16 episode hosted by Kate McKinnon. It closed out what was a solid if only slightly uneven first half of the season.

But we won't get to see the second half of the season start tonight. There will not be a new episode of Saturday Night Live tonight.

Instead, NBC will reair the December 2 episode hosted by Emma Stone. It's a nod to the actress who just picked up a Golden Globe win for her role in Poor Things. Noah Kahan was the musical guest.

Saturday Night Live remaining on hiatus isn't a surprise. The show has set the middle of January for its return over the past several years.

So when will Saturday Night Live return with a new episode? SNL is back on January 20, 2024, to kick off the second half of season 49. With award season, campaigns, and debates all on the schedule, SNL should have plenty to work with once it's back on the air.

Saltburn actor Jacob Elordi will host for the first time. He'll be joined by another SNL rookie, Renne Rapp, as the musical guest.

No other host beyond Elordi has been announced yet, but expect that to change soon. Lorne Michaels likely already knows who will take the stage. Fans should get the new either in the coming week or during Elordi's episode on January 20.
