Bowen Yang provides clues for who he considers the worst SNL host

The comedian doesn't want to name any names, though.

Bowen Yang is one of the most famous cast members on Saturday Night Live. He's been a cast member since 2018, and is quietly fulfilling the role of cast veteran (excluding Kenan Thompson, who's been part of the show for decades).

Yang has seen and heard a lot, which makes his insight into the machinations of SNL so interesting to hear. The comedian previously told Watch What Happens Live host Andy Cohen that there was a host who was particularly awful towards the cast, but refused to say who.

Bowen Yang claimed the host made things 'stressful'

During a recent appearance on the Fly on the Wall podcast, though, Yang provided a few more details as to who the mystery host could be. He told the hosts, aka SNL alum Dana Carvey and David Spade, that the SNL host in question created an extremely "stressful environment" for everybody else.:

"Imagine you stay up until 4 a.m. writing a sketch and then the host is like, ‘I f**king hate this."

The comedian told Carvey and Spade that some of the cast members broke down crying due to the stress and lack of sleep in the days leading up to this host's episode. "Your nerves are frayed, you’re going to have some weird, bizarre emotional response," he reasoned.

Some fans theorize the mystery host is Dave Chappelle

Yang clarified that he was not the cast member who cried from stress, but he refused to state who did. He also remained tight-lipped when it came to the name of the dubious host. Carvey and Spade asked who it was, and the comedian promised to tell them "off mic."

Some fans theorize that the host in question is Dave Chappelle, who has drawn criticism for his anti-LGBTQ rhetoric in recent Netflix stand-ups. Chappelle has hosted twice since Yang joined the show, but there's nothing confirming that the comedian is the culprit.

Hopefully, in due time, Yang will tell the world who it was.
