A 2018 Tonight Show interview has been taken down online (here's why)

The Tonight Show has been going on for a long time. We don't even have to go back to the Jay Leno takes to attest to the show's longevity, Jimmy Fallon alone has hosted over 1,000 episodes since he took over in 2014.

Most of The Tonight Show interviews and segments can be watched online, but one, in particular, has been taken down from most sites. It occurred in 2018, when Fallon had a conversation with actress and model Poppy Delevingne.

Poppy Delevingne performed a controversial trick

Delevingne confirmed the removal of her Tonight Show interview during a recent appearance on the podcast Origins with Cush Jumbo. She told the podcast host that her Tonight Show interview had to do with her party trick of opening a beer bottle with one eye, and admitted that it got her in trouble.

She recalled being asked to do the trick while sharing a Tonight Show couch with Steve Martin and Martin Short. She also recalled being told that the bit spurred children to attempt to open beers with their eyes at home:

"Then, everybody at home, children, started doing it. If you look up that Jimmy Fallon episode, it doesn't exist."

Evidently, the trick did not have the desired effect that Delevingne and Fallon intended. Word even got back to the actress that Fallon wanted her to clarify that the party trick wasn't real, for fear of kids hurting themselves.

A gif of the trick still exists on Twitter

A quick google search confirms that the Poppy Delevingne episode is nearly impossible to track down. The only remnant of the episode is a gif on the official Tonight Show Twitter account, which actually shows the moment in which Delevingne does the trick.

Delevingne told the Origins with Jumbo Cush host that she actually learned her party trick while doing another show. "I can't really open a beer bottle with my eye," she admitted. "It's a party trick because when I did [TV series] Genius Picasso."

It's a shame Delevingne's appearance has been scrubbed, but at least she lives on in gif form!
