When it comes to late night TV, there is one platform that we now tend to overlook. It’s all about Netflix, and yet, this is the platform with My Next Guest with David Letterman. That’s mostly because you can watch the episodes whenever you want, rather than them dropping late at night like they used to air.

The series has recently been renewed for seasons 6 and 7, and we’ll be starting up season 6 very soon. However, the December episode to come is classed as a special, marking the fourth special that Netflix has brought us since picking up the series.

Adam Sandler will appear on My Next Guest with David Letterman

The special, which is slated to drop on Monday, Dec. 1, will feature Adam Sandler. The two will chat about Sandler’s career, and in a sneak peek, we get to see what his start was like. It wasn’t easy for him, as we learn that he bombed during one of his performances with his dad and brother sitting in the audience. However, it sounds like this was the point that he realized the type of comedy that he could do — he had to stick to being the class clown.

Letterman remains empathetic with the story that is being told. After all, most celebrities have been at a point in their career where things don’t go the way as expected or intended. Then it’s either dealing with it or walking away in humiliation. Well, comedians aren’t going to let the hecklers or the haters get in their way when they really want something.

The standalone special comes at a beautiful time in Sandler’s career. Not only has he just had the success of Happy Gilmore 2 on Netflix, but he’s currently receiving acclaim for his performance in Jay Kelly opposite George Clooney.

When will My Next Guest with David Letterman season 6 air?

With this episode slated as a standalone special, eyes are still on when My Next Guest with David Letterman season 6 will air in full. That part isn’t known just yet.

Nor do we know just how many episodes we’ll get. This show has had a mixture of episode counts since moving to Netflix, with the first season getting six episodes, but then only three episodes in season 5, making it the shortest season to air.

Back in June, Variety reported that we’d get the sixth season “later this year,” and that could be the plan with the Adam Sandler special counted as part of it. At least we know the season is coming, along with a seventh season, likely in 2026 or 2027.

My Next Guest with David Letterman is available to stream on Netflix.
