Jimmy Kimmel Live! will look very different to viewers tuning in to ABC over the next couple of months. A major change to the late-night TV show starts on Monday, June 23.
Jimmy Kimmel will step down as host for the summer, beginning his annual summer vacation. In his place, ABC will turn the show over to a rotating cast of guest hosts.
Kimmel's summer break began in 2020 when he worked the time off into his contract with ABC. Since then, stars like Jennifer Lawrence, Anthony Anderson, and Dua Lipa have taken a turn hosting the show (with mixed results).
"Tonight is my last show until Labor Day," Kimmel joked last week. "I’m going to be off for the summer. I don’t want to go either, they put it in my contract, I have to go to fat camp every summer."
It seems like a bad time for one of the most influential voices in late-night TV to step away. But Kimmel sounded more than happy to disconnect and not have to spend every night responding to the president.
"I’m going to be gone for the next couple of months, but rest assured if Donald Trump does anything monumentally crazy or anything that requires an emergency response, I will be in a canoe, ignoring it,” he said.
Who is guest hosting Jimmy Kimmel Live! this week?
Jimmy Kimmel Live! starts off the guest host season by keeping things in the Disney family. Andor star Diego Luna will host all week, beginning Monday, June 23.
Luna's fellow Andor co-stars will be on hand to help him this week. Adria Adjorna (Bix) stops by on Monday, and Alan Tudyk (K-2SO) is the guest on Tuesday.
According to Deadline, other guest hosts slated to appear this summer include Anthony Anderson, Nicole Byer, Alan Cumming, Chris Distefano, Fortune Feimster, Jelly Roll, and Kumail Nanjiani.
