Late-night host to make first-ever The Late Show with Stephen Colbert guest apperance

As The Late Show enters the final stretch of its time on CBS, Stephen Colbert is about to sit down with a fellow late-night host for the first time!

Over the course of his time hosting The Late Show, Stephen Colbert has welcomed many fellow late-night hosts to the show as guests. We’ve seen the likes of Jimmy Kimmel, Jon Stewart, Seth Meyers, and more sit down with Colbert as a guest of the show, yet there is one late-night host who has somehow never appeared on the show as a guest: Jimmy Fallon.

Although Fallon has made several appearances on The Late Show through the years, he’s somehow never sat down as a guest on the show. Despite both Fallon and Colbert filming their respective late-night shows in New York, Fallon has never appeared as a guest on the show and has only ever dropped by as part of special appearances including a guest spot on Colbert’s hosting debut.

That will finally change on March 4, though, as CBS has confirmed Fallon will sit down as a guest of the show more than a decade after Colbert took over as The Late Show host.

As The Late Show enters the home stretch with just 12 weeks left in its run before Colbert signs off with his final episode, Fallon will drop in to chat with Colbert and help with a cause close to Colbert’s heart! During his visit, Fallon will participate in The Late Show’s “Rescue Dog Rescue” segment which is used to find forever homes for dogs up for adoption at the North Shore Animal League.

Of course, we’re also expecting that the pair will also chat about the current landscape of late-night television including the forthcoming end of The Late Show. It’ll be interesting to see where the conversation goes if it moves in that direction, which we’re sure it will at some point.

With The Late Show racing towards its final episode, it’s nice to see Fallon finally joining Colbert as a guest on the show. Though we have to admit the timing is interesting. Many late-night shows tape their episodes in the afternoon around the same time, which typically requires visiting hosts to shake up their own taping schedules. Considering that The Tonight Show was off the air for multiple weeks during the Olympics, it’s interesting Fallon didn’t drop by when his own show was on a break. But hey, it all worked out and the moment is sure to make for an unforgettable episode.

We’ll have to see if Colbert returns the favor by guesting on The Tonight Show in the weeks ahead. It’s been over a decade since Colbert sat down as a guest in-person on The Tonight Show back in 2014. Colbert’s last appearance came in 2018 via a virtual interview.  With The Late Show ending in late May, perhaps Colbert will stop by The Tonight Show head of his final show.
