If there’s one Sunday night show that we look forward to each week, it’s Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. Well, there is some exciting news, as the premiere date for season 13 is set, and it’s just as we expected.

LateNighter got the details of the premiere date, which hasn’t been widely publicized by HBO at the time of writing this. It comes off the back of Oliver recently sharing his thoughts about the WBD and (potentially) Netflix merger, and what that means for his show.

Last Week Tonight with John Oliver returns in February 2026

Just as expected, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver season 13 will premiere in February. More specifically, it will premiere on Sunday, Feb. 15, which matches the release of previous seasons in recent years.

While it usually airs at 11 p.m. ET, it will follow new episodes of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. That series is a half-hour show for most episodes, so you’ll want to pay close attention to the schedule for each week. Don’t worry; we’ll be here to help with that as well. Of course, the show will also be on HBO Max for those who can’t watch it live.

Last Week Tonight does have the time set for 11 p.m. ET/PT still, but we’ll be sure to check in every week for you to make sure.

How many episodes are in Last Week Tonight?

As of right now, we don’t have too many details about the new season. There are usually 30 episodes that run between February and November. The writer’s strike of 2023 did disrupt that season, so we don’t really count it as “normal,” but previous seasons have stuck pretty close to the regular format, starting in the middle of February and ending around Thanksgiving.

We’re still waiting on whether this will be the final season or not. HBO had renewed Last Week Tonight for three years, and this is the last of those three years. With the merger, the fate of the show is in the air more than it usually would be, but we all know that people love tuning in for Oliver’s takes on the week that has passed.

There’s a lot to cover in the first episode of the season. We’re sure to see discussions on Venezuela, Greenland, and NATO, along with everything about Canada and Ukraine. Plus, there are the ICE attacks that are sure to come up, so there’s plenty to be excited about.

Last Week Tonight will premiere on Sunday, Feb. 15 on HBO and HBO Max.
