Kenan Thompson is no stranger to juggling projects, and he has another one coming up. While he co-hosted Good Sports on Prime Video on Tuesday, Jan. 20, it came with an exciting announcement.
In fact, the co-hosting gig put him back on screen with the co-star that he’ll be back in a movie with. Kel Mitchell guest-hosted, filling in for Kevin Hart during the episode. It was there that the two announced their new horror comedy movie, and we can’t wait!
Kenan and Kel are back for a horror comedy
The initial announcement started with Mitchell excitedly telling everyone that the two of them would be on Heated Rivalry season 2, but Thompson quickly shut that one down. No, they’re not on the Canadian hockey romance series. Instead, they are teaming up for a horror comedy, and the announcement came with Frankenstein’s Monster behind him.
Granted, the announcement did get the name of the monster wrong, as so many people do. Frankenstein in Mary Shelley’s novel was the name of the scientist who created the monster. The monster never did get an official name, but is known as Frankenstein’s Monster, but many people get that mistaken.
The new horror comedy is titled Kenan & Kel Meet Frankenstein, almost hinting that this is going to be the two characters from the Nickelodeon sitcom Kenan & Kel. Production will start in the summer, and while there is no slated release date, we’d love to see it either this fall or next.
What is Kenan & Kel Meet Frankenstein about?
The Hollywood Reporter has a small look at what to expect. They will play delivery drivers, who start off on just a normal routine drop. Isn’t that how all horror movies start? Of course, they end up taking a terrifying turn to a creepy, out-of-place castle, and they wake up Frankenstein’s Monster.
So, now the two have to figure out how to survive. We’re here for it!
Thompson and Mitchell most recently appeared together in Good Burger 2 on Paramount+, and they are constantly looking for new ways to work together. They love their comedic timing together, but there’s also an element of nostalgia for all. Of course, they still want to bring something fresh, and that’s what they’re doing with this latest release.
