Jon Stewart is, and always will be, the face of The Daily Show. He wasn't the first host, but he made the show what it is today through his wit, his attention to detail, and his ability to find humor in very bleak political situations.

Stewart's return to the show has been well-received, despite only being once a week, and it seems as though he wants to keep the party going. The host has decided to extend his Daily Show tenure into 2025. The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that Stewart will continue to host once a week through the first year of the new presidential term.

Stewart will also serve as an executive producer on the show when he isn't hosting. This is an incredibly cagey move on the part of Comedy Central. The Daily Show had a solid successor to Stewart in Trevor Noah, but has struggled to replace Noah after his departure in 2022.

The show has since decided to take a revolving door approach, and cycle through different hosts on a regular basis. This has remained the case during the episodes in which Stewart isn't hosting. It does keep things fresh, but it also deprives the Daily Show of having a consistent identity.

Stewart's presence rectifies the problem, and Comedy Central's parent network, Paramount, praised him accordingly in an official statement:

"His ability to cut through the noise and deliver clear-eyed insights is exactly what we need, which is why we are thrilled to have him leading The Daily Show for another year."

The host commented on his current schedule

Stewart issued a statement of his own, confirming that he has thoroughly enjoyed his time back on the show. He also threw in a joke about his schedule, and the fact that Comedy Central would not give him the luxury of hosting every two weeks.

"I was really hoping they’d allow me to do every other Monday, but I’ll just have to suck it up," the host quipped. Given that we're nearing the tail end of an election, it's safe to say Stewart will have plenty of news to keep him busy.
