That said, when John Oliver recently expressed his love for RHOSLC, it was extremely shocking based on what the host said about the hit reality show.
In October 2025, John Oliver attended the Only Make Believe Gala, an event designed to raise funds to bring theater to entertain children with health issues. While at that event, the late-night host told Us Weekly that he believes RHOSLC is one of the best TV shows of any genre. Furthermore, Oliver explained the amazing reason why he thinks RHOSLC is incredibly funny.
"I think it’s one of the best TV programs in any genre on television, and it’s certainly one of the funniest because they’re very funny. They are absolute monsters. They know exactly what they’re doing. They do it incredibly well."
Since people say that laughter is the best medicine, it may seem like a hilarious show existing would be a good thing. Despite that, Oliver joked that he wasn't sure that RHOSLC has a positive effect on humanity. Still, Oliver immediately went back to praising the show.
“What they’re doing is not necessarily a net positive for humanity, but no one does it like them. They’ve advanced the form of the Housewives formula, and they will burn out like a comet. You can’t do it this well for this long and survive. One of them has already ended up in prison.”
