Jimmy Kimmel takes victory lap after Trump gets humiliated in new poll

Jimmy Kimmel had a good laugh after a new poll revealed President Trump is actually less popular than the late-night show host.

Jimmy Kimmel addressed the new elephant in the room during his latest monologue for Jimmy Kimmel Live!, after a new poll revealed that he is actually more popular than President Trump.

That's right; the "no ratings" TV host is actually more popular than the President of the United States.

"I did get some exciting news this weekend," Kimmel said. "According to a new poll from YouGov, which is a serious polling site, or they were before this, I am more popular than the President of the United States."

The audience erupted in cheers before Kimmel could even finish the sentence.

Kimmel quipped that he clearly President Trump and his team aren't happy because they released a statement about the poll during the US Government shutdown.

"This is a real statement: 'Over 77 million Americans showed up on election day to cast their ballots for President Donald J. Trump, who is delivering on his overwhelming mandate to put America first. Jimmy Kimmel prays every night to garner a fraction of that support to keep his show on air after ratings dropped 64% last week. Sad!' "

You can watch the clip posted on the official Jimmy Kimmel Live! Instagram.

According to a poll from YouGov, only 41% of those surveyed viewed Kimmel unfavorably, while that number was much higher for President Trump with 54% of respondents holding an unfavorable view of the President. Four out of every 10 of those surveyed had a favorable view of President Trump while more than 50% of those asked had a favorable view of Kimmel. It's a 16-point gap, and that's not particularly close, especially for a late-night host with "no ratings," as Kimmel pointed out in the bit.

In fact, Kimmel's ratings soared after he returned to air following his suspension by ABC.

This is just another chapter in the latest involving Jimmy Kimmel and the Trump administration after the host was suspended by Disney. Broadcasters, Nexstar and Sinclair, threatened to preempt Jimmy Kimmel Live! had Disney not stepped in and suspended Kimmel following comments he made shortly after the death of Charlie Kirk. Disney brought Kimmel back about a week after he was suspended for new episodes. While they didn't air Kimmel's return, Nexstar and Sinclair have been airing new episodes of Kimmel's show as scheduled, as well.

While this is the latest, I don't think anyone expects this will be the end of the saga between Disney, Kimmel, President Trump, and his administration.
