Jimmy Kimmel has always got a joke or two in the stash for Donald Trump. It's difficult to imagine a Jimmy Kimmel Live! monologue without there being criticisms leveled at the former President. But Kimmel decided to get more serious about the topic of Trump during a recent interview.

The talk show host went on MSNBC's Morning Joe to discuss the presidential election, and the mental preparation that comes with hosting an episode the day after the results come in. Kimmel, who generally relies on his comedic sensibility, admitted that he was nervous about the outcome of the election.

Jimmy Kimmel admitted his concerns on Morning Joe

He told Morning Joe host Joe Scarborough that he was "not ready" for the possibility of Donald Trump winning a second presidential term. He told the host that Trump coming out on top was an outcome that him and his wife have discussed behind closed doors:

"I don’t feel like I’m mentally prepared for the possibility of a loss. I’m not ready. I have to get there where I'm ready for either scenario."

Kimmel also admitted that he feels a sense of pressure to comfort, and communicate certain crucial pieces of information, his audience in the aftermath of the election. "That one seems a little bit more important than others," he noted. "It’s a big responsibility..."

The comedian called Trump 'stupid' and 'dangerous'

The rest of the interview maintained a sober tone. Kimmel told the host that he felt Trump was "stupid" and "dangerous," and any person who has been mocked for having "Trump Derangement Syndrome" was actually a "reasonable person."

The talk show veteran also took shots at Trump's criminal record. He asserted that Trump was not only running to become President again, but running to avoid being put behind bars. He claimed the controversial politician is "running for his freedom" in the current election cycle. One thing's for sure, there will be plenty for Kimmel to talk about over the new few weeks.
