The cast for Dancing with the Stars season 35 is quickly coming together, and the latest star to join the long-running competition series is a very familiar and beloved face from the ABC family! For the first time, ABC has tapped a member of the Jimmy Kimmel Live team to compete as part of the Dancing with the Stars cast, though it’s sadly not Kimmel who will be putting on his dancing shoes.
“I have a major announcement to make. I have been authorized, deputized even, by the Walt Disney Company and our television network, ABC, to reveal the name of a major celebrity contestant who will be competing on the upcoming season of Dancing with the Stars. This person is someone you know, someone you love. He is someone we know quite well,” Kimmel began during his June 17 broadcast of Jimmy Kimmel Live. “The star who will be dancing and competing for the coveted Mirrorball Trophy on season 35 of Dancing with the Stars is our very own Guillermo.”
That’s right, Kimmel’s longtime sidekick will be taking to the ballroom this fall to compete as a member of the season 35 cast!
"This is going to be so great. Don't lose a single adorable pound. Okay, do you promise?" Kimmel jokingly told Guillermo after he came dancing out in a colorful ruffle-sleeved costume.
"I promise if I lose five pounds I'm going to gain ten pounds back," Guillermo joked back as Kimmel wished him luck before the show continued.
Guillermo has been a part of the Jimmy Kimmel Live family since the show’s first season on the air back in 2003. He’s been a staple on the show ever since and plays a pivotal role in ABC’s late-night series. Through the years, Guillermo’s role has gradually increased to include red carpet interviews and frequent appearances in bits for the show in addition to serving as Kimmel’s nightly sidekick.
This will certainly give fans the chance to see a new side of Guillermo, and we won’t be surprised at all if he makes it far in the competition, especially with Kimmel’s support. We’ll surely be getting updates on his progress on the show throughout the season on Jimmy Kimmel Live, and we wouldn’t be surprised at all if Kimmel made the occasional appearance in the ballroom to support his longtime friend and colleague.
Guillermo is the latest to join the season 35 cast, which also includes The Traitors star Maura Higgins, Summer House star Ciara Miller, and Savannah Bananas' second baseman Jason Olson. The full cast will be revealed on September 2 live on Good Morning America, though there is a chance a few additional names might be announced in the weeks leading up to the full cast announcement.
