The start of the week is usually when we look at the schedules for our favorite late night shows. We want to know who will be interviewed, and what they’re going to discuss. Well, Jimmy Kimmel Live has some disappointing news, but it’s totally expected — and it’s not just this late night show.
Yes, ABC is pulling the show from the schedule in terms of new episodes, but this has nothing to do with politics, the FCC, or even Kimmel going through something personal. This is all planned, as the Thursday, Dec. 18 episode should have prepared everyone for this.

Jimmy Kimmel Live is heading on its winter break
There are no more new episodes of Jimmy Kimmel Live in 2025. Like the other late night shows (and just like primetime shows), the series is on its winter hiatus. That means at least two weeks of reruns.
All we know right now is that Jimmy Kimmel Live will be back in 2026. We’re expecting during the first week of January, but ABC isn’t being exactly open about that. So, our eyes are on the schedules as they’re released.
There’s a lot that could affect the return, including getting celebrities on the series to interview. What isn’t going to affect it is Kimmel’s contract with Disney. As we’ve mentioned, Kimmel recently renewed his contract for another year, meaning we’ll get Jimmy Kimmel Live until at least May 2027.
Jimmy Kimmel will have a Christmas Day special
Now, while Kimmel isn’t going to have an episode on ABC, there is something to look forward to on the other side of the pond. Kimmel will host the Alternative Christmas Message on Channel 4 in the United Kingdom, which broadcasts on Christmas Day just shortly after King Charles III’s speech.
Channel 4 hasn’t said what the speech will include exactly, according to Deadline, but it’s expected to focus on the “really great year” that 2025 has been for fascism. Of course, there will be a chance to look back at the year of battling it out with President Donald Trump, and there could be a discussion about suspensions, contract renewals, and more.
