Since Jimmy Kimmel Live! premiered, the show's host has made jokes about a seemingly endless list of different topics. Some of the TV host's jokes have resulted in him winding up in hot water, with the most obvious example of that being when he was suspended from his own show. Once Kimmel got his job back and even won an award, he continued cracking jokes about controversial figures like Elon Musk and other tech CEOS.
Clearly, Kimmel isn't afraid to speak his mind, even about topics that other hosts and public figures may be too afraid to touch. Even though Kimmel has often discussed scandalous topics, there is no doubt that he believes that some lines shouldn't be crossed. After all, Kimmel recently expressed outrage about Donald Trump's recent comments and Truth Social post about Rob Reiner's death.

Jimmy Kimmel labeled Donald Trump's post about Rob Reiner "hateful and vile"
On Dec. 14, 2025, news broke that two deceased people had been found at the home of Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner. In the hours and days that followed, heartbroken fans around the world learned that it was the famous couple who'd passed away and that one of their sons, Nick Reiner had been charged. That left most observers wondering about Rob and Nick Reiner's relationship before the tragedy.
While millions of fans and observers were deeply saddened by the news of Rob Reiner's passing and what caused it, Donald Trump had a very different reaction. Trump posted on Truth Social on Dec. 15, 2025 claiming that Rob Reiner's death was caused by the director and actor's "Trump Derangement Syndrome."
Later, after Trump's post caused a significant backlash, he doubled down when asked about his post and the resulting furor. Later, on Dec. 15, the YouTube channel for Jimmy Kimmel Live! published a video of the show's host reacting to Trump's post and comments about Reiner. An obviously outraged Kimmel expressed his severe frustrations at the President's words.
"Just when you think he can't go any lower, he somehow finds a way to do that. His description of what happened, of course, is not at all what happened. This is exactly what I've spoken about before, this rush to pin the tail on the donkey in pursuit of the Trump-friendly narrative. Not to mention blaming his death on the fact that he is an outspoken liberal, insulting someone who's just been murdered, who leaves children behind without having any idea of what actually happened. It's so hateful and vile."
After calling out the way that Trump responded to Rob Reiner's death, Kimmel went on to briefly describe how he responded when he learned about the post. As Kimmel explained, it was his wife who informed him about what Trump had posted. Even though Kimmel clearly trusts his wife, since she works on his talk show as its executive producer and co-head writer, he stated that he initially thought the post had to be fake.
"When I first saw it, I thought it was fake. My wife showed it to me this morning, and I was like, well, even for him, that seemed like too much. But nothing is ever too much for him. "
Last Night On's thoughts, prayers, and love are with the Reiner family at this difficult time.
Jimmy Kimmel Live airs on weeknights at 11:35/10:35c on ABC.
