The busiest man in late-night TV wants to do more in 2025. The Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon revealed he's got big plans for the new year.
2024 was Fallon's tenth behind the Tonight Show desk. Add in another five years at Late Night, and that's a lot of time delivering monologues, sketches, celebrity interviews, and musical numbers.
But in an interview with Forbes, Fallon revealed that he wants more on his plate in 2025. He told the outlet that he'd like to put together a new stand-up act in the near future.
"I mean, there is always getting an act back together. That is how I got my start - doing stand-up. I do not know whether it is a one-man show or stand-up comedy, but that is one thing."
Fallon began his stand-up career in high school. Later, he dropped out of college to move to Los Angeles and pursue comedy full-time. The rest is history as he soon landed on Saturday Night Live, movies, and now late-night TV.
But it's not like Fallon has completely abandoned stand-up since taking over The Tonight Show. He still performs one-off shows, benefits, and even recently did a few gigs with Nate Bargatze's tour.
It sounds like Fallon wants to develop a proper set and something he can take on the road or film a special. Other late-night hosts like Seth Meyers and John Oliver have done something similar. The only question for Fallon is does he have the time.
Jimmy Fallon just wrapped up the busiest year of his career
If Jimmy Fallon wants to get back to stand-up, he's going have to clear some time in his schedule. The comedian told Forbes that 2024 was the busiest year of his career and called it a "really crazy, fun year."
In addition to hosting The Tonight Show, Fallon wrote, produced, and performed a Christmas album. That led to a holiday special on NBC with an over-the-top performance at 30 Rock.
Fallon also has his growing literary empire. He turned his picture book Dada into an entire series and has also published books for Christmas and Halloween. That Halloween book inspired a haunted maze at 30 Rock, too.
The late-night TV host is also making his Broadway debut. He's part of the rotating cast in Simon Rich's All In: Comedy About Love. Fallon will share the stage with Lin-Manuel Miranda during his performances.
Even just one of these jobs would be a highlight for most comedians. Yet Jimmy Fallon juggles it all and still wants more to do. For fans of the Tonight Show host, 2025 can't come soon enough.
