The Tonight Show fans pointed out why On Brand with Jimmy Fallon was morally questionable

During the first season of On Brand with Jimmy Fallon, viewers saw 10 competitors come together in an attempt to win $100,000 and the title of "Innovator of the Year." In order to prevail on that show, the competitors who were interested in working in the marketing business had to prove they had the skills to work in that industry. In order to do that, On Brand with Jimmy Fallon's competitors had to conceive advertising campaigns that met the pararemeters of their assigned tasks.

In October 2025, a fan on the r/JimmyFallon subreddit uploaded a post about why they were troubled by the reality show's dealings with corporate America that received upvotes from other users. That post pointed out that On Brand with Jimmy Fallon's competitors were asked to create advertising campaigns that could be used by a slew of major companies. In return, the creative minds that created those campaigns were paid nothing. Instead, they were only paid for appearing on TV and if they won On Brand with Jimmy Fallon's $100,000 grand prize. Based on all those factors, the fan argued that the reality show was "really exploitative of the participants."

To that post's point, On Brand with Jimmy Fallon featured the competitors envisioning campaigns for several major companies that would typically spend a lot of money on advertising. That list of companies included Dunkin', Southwest Airlines, Marshalls, SONIC Drive-In, Captain Morgan, Pillsbury, KitchenAid, Therabody, and Samsung.

One response to the Reddit post that complained that On Brand with Jimmy Fallon took advantage of its competitors made a different point. The user who commented argued that Fallon's reality show was unoriginal because it was a "soft reboot of The Apprentice."

On Brand with Jimmy Fallon is available to stream on Peacock.
