Saturday Night Live season 50 rolled into the holiday hiatus with some strong momentum. However, SNL fans are eager for the sketch show to reappear in the new year.
SNL last aired a new episode on December 21, 2024. Former cast member Martin Short officially joined the Five Timers Club in a star-studded cold open to kick off the Christmas episode. After that, Studio 8H went dark.
Unfortunately, the lights won't go on this Saturday. There will not be a new episode of Saturday Night Live tonight.
NBC will reair the November 2, 2024 episode in its place. Tune in to revisit John Mulaney host with musical guest Chappell Roan. The episode was also notable for its cameo by Vice President Kamala Harris just days before the 2024 presidential election.
When does Saturday Night Live come back?
While another week without Saturday Night Live is tough news to swallow, there is good news on the horizon. SNL has announced its January schedule, including the first episode of 2025.
Dave Chappelle returns to host on January 18. Glorilla joins him as the night's musical guest. It marks Chappelle's fourth time as SNL host. Many believed he'd be asked to host the first post-election show, but that gig ultimately went to his Chappelle Show collaborator, Bill Burr.
On January 25, Timothee Chalamet returns to host Saturday Night Live. And in a surprise announcement, he'll also be the musical guest. The actor honed his musical skills in preparation for playing Bob Dylan in the biopic A Complete Unknown. Apparently he's feeling confident enough to perform on SNL.
More Saturday Night Live content is available to stream on Peacock. Popular sketches, monologues, and cut-for-time sketches can be found on SNL's official YouTube channel.
