We've hit the last Friday of 2024. Should late-night TV fans expect to celebrate with one final episode of Real Time with Bill Maher?
It's been another eventful year, and Bill Maher has been in the thick of all of it. He covered the election in his signature style, then threated to walk away from Real Time if he had to continue talking about President Donald Trump.
But we all know that Maher isn't going anywhere. However, he won't be on the air tonight. There will not be a new episode of Real Time with Bill Maher on December 27.
The holiday earlier this week kept late-night TV off the air. Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel, Seth Meyers, and the rest have all packed in for 2024. Maher is no different, execpt for the fact he's been on vacation for a little longer.
Real Time with Bill Maher season 22 wrapped up back in November. That's typically when the show turns off the lights for the year.
The new season is expected to return in January. Maher typicall comes back on the air around the second week of the month. That should give him enough time to cover President Trump's inauguration (if he wants to talk about it).
Bill Maher's new stand-up special also arrives next month
January will be very busy month for Bill Maher. Not only will the new season of Real Time premiere, but it will also be when his latest stand-up comedy special debuts.
Bill Maher: Is Anyone Else Seeing This? will premiere on HBO on January 10. The special will also be available to stream on Max.
Per HBO, Is Anyone Else Seeing This? will be exactly what you'd expect to hear from Bill Maher in 2025:
"Host of the award-winning series Real Time with Bill Maher, acclaimed comedian and satirist Bill Maher serves up another dose of reality in his 13th HBO stand-up special. With his signature sardonic wit and unfiltered approach to discussing controversial issues, the comedian offers up his scathing commentary on the hypocrisies of both conservative and liberal politics, as well as trends in modern parenting, sex and dating, and religion. "
January 10 is a Friday, so HBO could have a couple of plans in store. It could go with a Maher double-feature that night and premiere Real Time and the stand-up special. Or it could choose to space out its dose of Maher and let the late-night TV show return a week after Maher's special drops.
