Is a new episode of Saturday Night Live on tonight? (October 26)
Saturday Night Live has been on a roll since the season 50 premiere. The show has brought back beloved cast members like Maya Rudolph, Dana Carvey and Andy Samberg to play politicians, and the hosts have done a fine job of matching the energy of the cast.
As we near the end of October, however, some fans may be curious about the slate of upcoming episodes. Halloween is right around the corner, and oftentimes, weekends linked to holidays will resort to airing returns instead of new episodes. This, unfortunately, will be the case with SNL.
NBC will be airing an SNL rerun tonight
There is no new episode of Saturday Night Live on October 26. NBC will instead be airing a rerun of a previous season 50 episode. It's unfortunate, but it also makes sense given the schedule that SNL has rolled out thus far.
The season premiered on September 28, and has aired its first four episodes in consecutive weeks. There was bound to be a break, and Halloween was as good a time as any to do. The good news is that fans will not have to wait long to get the next episode of Saturday Night Live.
The next SNL episode airs on November 2
NBC has already confirmed that SNL will return on November 2 with John Mulaney hosting and Chappell Roan serving as the musical guest. Mulaney is a former SNL writer, and one of the most beloved hosts of the last ten years. Roan, on the other hand, has been one of the breakout stars of 2024, and will be making her debut on the SNL stage.
Roan's involvement with the show is especially interesting, given that SNL, and cast member Bowen Yang, in particular, were taken to task for making fun of the singer's comments about privacy. Yang issued a statement on Instagram defending his Weekend Update sketch. Knowing SNL, there might even be a reference to the controversy during the next batch of promos.
