Heidi Gardner may have shocked fans by exiting Saturday Night Live just before its 51st season, but she’s not staying away from live comedy for long. The fan-favorite cast member is set to appear in All Out: Comedy About Ambition, a new Broadway play from former SNL writer Simon Rich.
Production of All Out begins Friday, December 12, at Broadway‘s Nederlander Theatre. Director Alex Timbers will lead a rotating cast of actors reading short stories and essays written by Rich. The show serves as a follow-up to Rich’s 2024 Broadway hit All In: Comedy About Love, which featured an impressive cast including late-night TV stars like Jimmy Fallon, Fred Armisen, and John Mulaney.
Gardner’s involvement marks her first major project since her Saturday Night Live departure, which came as a surprise to fans after seven seasons on the NBC sketch series. The Broadway gig should showcase her storytelling and character skills that made her a standout on SNL. Fans will have another chance to see Gardner perform comedy live in New York, albeit without some of her former co-stars.
All Out features SNL alumni Cecily Strong and Sarah Silverman to go along with Gardner. Each performance will feature four actors on stage, so the rotating cast won't reunite Strong and Gardner. But, select dates will feature Gardner and Silverman collaborating.
