Conan O'Brien is widely known as a nice guy in show business. It's worth noting, because there aren't many who have been able to maintain this reputation for as long as he has. Conan is one of the pillars of late night television, as least in the modern age. Donald Trump, however, is not a fan.

Trump made a lone appearance on Late Night with Conan O'Brien in 1997. The billionaire seemed to have a decent enough time, until Conan urged him to empty his pockets in front of the audience. The request seemed harmless enough, until an embarrassed Trump was forced to reveal that he had a condom in his pocket.

Trump claimed he would never return to Conan's show

The man who would go on to president made light of the contents of his pockets, telling those in the audience to practice safe sex. Conan O'Brien, however, recounted a different version of Trump when the two men got offstage. Conan told Rolling Stone that Trump was humiliated by the ordeal, and vowed to never appear on the show again:

"He walked over to my producer and said, 'That's the last time I'm gonna be on this f**king show. He humiliated me in front of everybody.'"

Trump didn't even wait until the interview ended. Once Late Night cut to commercial, he got up and walked off. "He was pissed," the host recalled. "He was really mad... I went to commercial. I don't think he said goodbye to me. He stormed off."

Trump appeared on Late Night seven more times

The ironic part was that Trump did appear on Late Night with Conan O'Brien again. Despite making a scene, and promising the producer that he would never again share a stage with Conan, he returned to the show seven more times! You can watch a segment of their 2005 interview above.

Conan made note of this discrepancy, and found the whole thing humorous. "He got over it clearly," he quipped.
