Colbert is off the rest of this week as The Late Show begins another break after Kamala Harris interview

It seems The Late Show is taking yet another break.

Hot off one of his biggest interviews of the political season with guest Kamala Harris dropping in on The Late Show on Oct. 8, Stephen Colbert is officially taking the rest of the week off.

That’s right, there will be no more new episodes of The Late Show coming fans’ way this week with CBS sending the series into rerun mode for October 9, 10, and 11. It’s a surprising choice as one would think CBS would have wanted to continue the momentum of the show after Cobert’s interview with Vice President Harris; however, it seems that interview might be the only reason the show had a new episode at all this week.

Monday night began with an encore episode that had fans wondering if The Late Show was on yet another break for the full week, then came Tuesday’s new episode and there was hope that the show would be new the rest of the week. Sadly, that’s not the case as we’ll be in recaps for the rest of the week.

So just what does CBS have planned for the week?

The Oct. 9 episode will be a rerun of the show’s Sept. 19 episode which featured an appearance from Anderson Cooper and musical performance from Sting. On Oct. 10, CBS will reair The Late Show’s Sept. 17 episode in which Jeremy Strong and Dr. Francis Collins dropped in to chat with Colbert. Closing the week, we’ll have an encore of the Sept. 12 episode coming our way on Friday, an episode that featured guest Jeff Bridges and a cooking demo with Colbert and his wife Evie McGee Colbert.

As for the plans for next week’s episodes? CBS has not yet released the schedule for The Late Show’s lineup for the week of Oct. 14 making it hard to tell whether the show will be back with fresh episodes next week; however, it’s looking like we could be in for some reruns again.

The current TV Guide listings for the week do not list The Late Show as airing new episodes during the week of Oct. 14, so it’s looking like we might be in store for yet another longer break for the show.

Given that we’re about to enter the final stretch of the 2024 President Election, we can’t imagine Colbert will be off the airwaves for too long so he should hopefully return with fresh episodes soon. When exactly he’ll be back is the big question and we’ll have to wait for CBS to confirm the schedule for the show’s upcoming episodes to know for certain when The Late Show will begin airing new episodes again.
