CBS actually has good news about The Late Show with Stephen Colbert

There is finally some good news when it comes to The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. CBS announced it's schedule for the week, and late-night TV fans have reason to celebrate.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert returns to the air tonight with a brand-new episode. It ends a prolonged hiatus for Stephen Colbert and company after the NCAA March Madness tournament bumped the show from the schedule. Now that the brackets are down to the Final Four, the remaining games aer scheduled for Saturday night. That means no more interfering with The Late Show.

It was a case of bad timing for the show. CBS covering the tournament took a chunk of time away from a show that doesn't have much time left on the air. The Late Show with Stephen Colbert will officially end its run on May 21.

Thankfully a stretch of reruns has come to an end. While other late-night shows will take some time off starting tonight, The Late Show is getting back in the studio. With just under two months left, hopefully Colbert won't have to take anymore time off.

It all starts on Monday, March 30 with an excellent combination of guests. Comedian John Mulaney and music legend David Byrne are both on the schedule. Mulaney has never been shy about his fandom for Byrne, and the two have even collaborated on projects in the past.

Tuesday, March 31 sees Nathan Lane stop by the show. He'll be on to promote his role in a Broadway revival of Death of a Salesman. Then, former late-night TV host Arsenio Hall chats with Colbert about his new memoir, Arsenio.

On Wednesday, April 1, Hollywood royalty arrives on The Late Show. Icon Meryl Streep will be the first guest as she gets the Devil Wears Prada 2 press tour rolling. Musician Maggie Rogers will also be on the show.

Colbert's first week back wraps up on Thursday, April 2. Things end on a high note as music legend Paul Simon joins the show. Actor and comedian Ramy Youssef will follow as the last Late Show guest of the week, as he discusses his stand-up shows (and maybe his Saturday Night Live cameo).

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert airs at 11:35 p.m. ET on CBS. Episodes of the late-night show are also available to stream on Paramount+.
