We all know what the holiday season can be like, especially when family starts arriving. Brad Paisley certainly knows it all, and that’s why his latest song hits all the notes we needed to hear. He did an impromptu performance while on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday, Nov. 12.
Paisley was there to promote his upcoming Christmas album, titled “Snow Globe Train.” While talking about the album, he pulled out his guitar, making it clear that nobody would stop him from performing part of one of his songs.
Brad Paisley shares the ‘nightmare’ of Christmas on The Tonight Show
The lyrics are certainly funny, having the audience and Jimmy Fallon laughing at various points. He talks about how much of a “nightmare” the holiday season is when it comes to family and the in-laws visiting. It’s probably not that easy when your brother-in-law tells your kids that he’s hit and killed Rudolph!
The song goes on to share how Paisley is going to be just like the Christmas tree until New Year’s (when the in-laws finally leave). Yes, they’re going to be “Lit.”
I’m sure he has a great relationship with his in-laws, and this is why he gets to bring out a song that’s so funny. He’s married to Kimberly Williams-Paisley, who currently stars in 911: Nashville, and they’ve been married since 2003, so that’s plenty of Christmases to find the humor together.
Brad Paisley was promoting his new album
The performance probably wasn’t all that a surprise for Fallon. After all, Paisley was there to promote his new album, and having his guitar out there with him made it pretty clear that a song could happen. That doesn’t mean Fallon knew which song he would get to hear, or that he even knew how hilarious the lyrics would be.
“Snow Globe Train” was released on Friday, Nov. 7, and there are 16 holiday-themed tracks on it to enjoy. While there are some new songs, such as “Lit,” Paisley also does the thing that many before him has done. He’s put his own twist on some Christmas classics, including “Jingle Bell Rock” and “My Favorite Things.”
I do think “Lit” is the funniest of the tracks. If you don’t like country music, you at least need to take the time to just listen to the lyrics for this one. You’ll probably end up playing it a few times this year, maybe even as a way to hint that the in-laws need to get out of town!
It turns out that the Christmas album became a think when Hallmark came to him for a team-up, and as a Hallmark fan, he was all for it!
“Snow Globe Train” is currently available on all major music platforms.
