Bowen Yang has ended his stint on Saturday Night Live, but he’s not staying out of work for too long. He’s landed his first new project of 2026, and we can’t wait for it!
After announcing his departure just days before his final episode on Saturday, Dec. 20, the episode went on to become the most-watched of 2025 — and the most-watched Christmas episode in five years. That’s not all too surprising, considering how popular he is, even though the series missed its mark for him earlier in the year.
When he did leave, he shared that he viewed SNL has a stepping stone to other projects. It looks like it’s become just that, as he has set his next project.

Saturday Night Live’s Bowen Yang will host a new podcast
The former SNL star will co-host a comedy podcast with Las Culturistas’ Matt Rogers. Titled Two Guys, Five Rings, it will be a Winter Olympics podcast, running for 15 episodes over the course of the Winter Games. It’s an official podcast with NBC’s Milan Cortina Creator Collective, in partnership with iHeart Media.
This isn’t the first time he’s taken on a podcast for such a major sporting event. The two hosted the podcast during the Summer Games in 2024, offering a pop-culture-forward take on the Games in an attempt to draw in younger viewers.
With the success of the program, it’s no surprise that NBC wants the duo to do it again. They’ll continue the pop-culture-forward focus for the Winter Games, which include the likes of figure skating, bobsledding, and hockey.

A small part of a bigger initiative
NBC wants to bring more people to the Winter Games, and Two Guys, Five Rings is just a small part of that. More than 25 creators are bringing first-person storytelling and behind-the-scenes access from Milan and Cortina, where the Winter Games will take place.
The games will air on NBC from Friday, Feb. 6 until Sunday, Feb. 22. The first and last day are all about the Opening Ceremony and Closing Ceremony, and there will be a mixture of events throughout the two weeks, all airing on NBC.
There are no details on exactly when the 15 episodes of the new podcast will air, but we’ll certainly keep an eye on things. For now, just prepare for Yang’s first project since leaving Saturday Night Live as we get into the excitement of the Winter Olympics.
