Bill Maher took it upon himself to "educate" pop star Chappell Roan about the Middle East. The Real Time host singled out Roan to make a point about the need for younger people to better understand the region.

Maher's open letter to Roan made sure to begin by praising the artist. Roan's massive success and billions of streams didn't go unnoticed by the late-night TV host. Maher even seemed to sense some common ground with the singer after playing her comments criticizing both left and right policies.

And while Roan also impressed Maher with her views on critical thinking, social media, and self-reflection, she apparently lost him when it came to the Middle East. The singer's viral TikTok criticized the BIden administration's position in the Israel-Hamas war and included support for Palestine.

Maher chastised Gen Z for learning about the Middle East through TikTok videos. The comedian chose to remind his audience that a Chinese company owns the platform and claimed it would "love for America's youth to hate America."

The Real Time host wasn't done there as he argued the death and inhumanity during the October 7 terrorist attack in Israel hasn't received the same sympathy from young people as the deaths in Palestine.

Maher blamed "propaganda" on TikTok before launching into a history lesson designed to teach Roan about Israel's history. The comedian then added his thoughts on how Roan's sexually explicit lyrics wouldn't fly in Palestine.

The "New Rule" segment wrapped up with Maher encouraging Roan and other young people to rethink their positions when it comes to Israel, Hamas, Iran, and other Middle East topics. For the Real Time host, the choice between right and wrong is a binary one.
